Phoenix f’ing Walker😮‍💨🥵.
I’ve read many of the reviews around this book and honestly many of them I feel scanned the book and didn’t take into account the beautiful writing and storyline. I absolutely fell in love with this entire book. It had me caught, hook, line, and sinker. Not only did it take two main characters who had flaws and grew up in two different lifestyles, but also validated that forgiveness isn’t a straight line when it comes to something you care so deeply about. This being said do I feel like the forgiveness was pulled out longer than what it needed to be, absolutely but do I hate the FMC for it, not at all because she is entitled to her feelings. Phoenix was completely in the wrong for stealing her song however what I don’t think many people realize is, he was raised by his abusive father who didn’t teach him right from wrong and he never experienced love or care before Lennon. Do I believe that Lennon would have gave him the song had he asked??? Yes absolutely she loved him so much. I just hated that it took so long for her to forgive him. Then once she did, I felt like the story line sped up so fast I nor the characters were able to bask in the happily ever after. I also would’ve loved a longer epilogue. I wanted him to be forgiven by the world. I wanted his thoughts and to know the conversation he and Lennon had when the article/ interview was released stating that he and Lennon wrote it together.

While Phoenix was the hot rockstar that we all dream of having, he came from a terrible childhood. Meanwhile, Lennon came from a great childhood but was bullied for her weight and had a heart of gold but forgiveness was not one of her strong suits. Phoenix still loved her despite her weight and still loved her when she lost weight. Many reviews felt like it wasn’t embracing plus sized girlies but the thing is Lennon lost weight because she was using food as a coping mechanism and acknowledged she wanted to improve herself for herself. She didn’t do it for anyone else. Overall, I enjoyed the book sooo much and just wish I would’ve gotten the ending I wanted.
