It took about 25 chapters before the book became more interesting to read. Which, I know there was world building and background history to establish but it felt like it went on for a long while. The back half was excellent! I enjoyed the plot and the twists. It had me on my toes, wondering what was going to happen next. Also, the spice scenes were a miss for me. They were not well written. The book also gave beauty and the beast vibes as well.
