2.5/5: Read for Big Ugly Tall Tales

Look I know I'm probably the outlier here but to say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.

To start this novel is pretty anxiety inducing in the beginning with the spread of the virus and it's very reminiscent of 2020. The first few chapters I absolutely flew through and I was really excited to see where this group and the story went...... then we meet the symphony.... and honestly for a group of people "Keeping art alive" and "Inspiring hope" I couldn't care less about them.

I'm actually so conflicted by the writing too. I can TELL that the author is talented and there are certain parts in the novel that shine! But there were entirely too many characters, settings, and the timelines were sloppy at best. I feel like every time you started to connect to a timeline or a group she rips you out of it and slaps you somewhere you don't care to be.

Also this is petty of me but some of the character names were so stupid it annoyed me every time I saw them. I'm not sure if this was just entirely too hyped up and I had SOOOOO many people telling me I would love it or what but this fell entirely flat for me. I was finding myself checking how much longer I had far more than I would have liked to.

P.S. I probably should have known it was going to be a no when I saw Erin Morgenstern blurb on the front... Cause if you know me and my feelings about night circus..... anyway.
