Playboy Pilot by Penelope Ward, Vi Keeland

5.0

5 star review of Playboy Pilot
Where do I even start with these two?
Vi Keeland has such a great voice when it comes to the funny and swoony, when hilarity ensues, nine times out of ten- its Vi. And she is really book smart (see what I did there) apparently also very knowledgeable about Bingo, so there’s that.
Penelope’s voice is strong when it comes to emoting and being an empath- those passionate scenes- the WTF worthy moments, are most typically Penelope. And Penelope is pretty much in my top three realms of authors. To me, she does no wrong. Also, I love calling her on all the scenes she wrote- I got them all right, score!
Now riddle me this Batman- when you put these two together, what do you get?? New York Times Best Selling Authors, that’s what you get- and I don’t take that lightly. These are some serious authors. I mean hard core authoring goes on between these two. And just when you think you can’t take it, they get all up in there and blow your mind. ;)
Kendall is the perfect heroine. She’s like the textbook Goldilocks. She’s sassy- but not TOO much where it’s comes across as, “Who the eff is she and why do I hate her?” and not TOO little because then we would say “PUSHOVER!!!” No, Kendall Sparks is JUST RIGHT. She has just about everything going for her- beside the fact that she has to make a damn near life altering decision with not much time to spare and that’s when she meets Carter.
Oh Carter, Carter Clynes- I’ll give it to you straight. While most Penelope and Vi’s heroes are scorching hot- Carter is on another planet. Like if Chance were Pluto, and Graham were Uranus (tee hee) then Carter is freaking Mercury. And I don’t know if you know much about Mercury- but it’s like a bajillion degrees (its science- look it up). He flies through the skies with the greatest of ease, but when it comes to his life- and getting close to people of the opposite sex- he’s kind of sucktastic. But it’s not like he was born that way- he was shaped that way from a relationship that really messed him up- and I kind of have to say, I absolutely LOVED how open these two got with each other.
This book has everything- fun nicknames, some raunchy elderly people, hot sex, a freaking crazy plot twist that bangs everything up and hikes up the angst, leather jackets, the Beatles, foot massages for an old man who calls you Brucey, and much much more. There’s one part that I absolutely hated though, when it was over!!! It’s one of those books you wish you could unread instead of reread and say- “oh yeah I remember that part”. You really just want to say “holy hell that’s hilarious and I am so happy to be reading this for the first time,” all the damn time. Each page was like a fan girl’s gift. So Vi and P- thank you for the gift that is your writing. And just- PLEASE DON’T STOP, like ever….
