Into The Dark - Magnolia Parks Universum, Band 5 by Jessa Hastings
4.5
᪥ Wow, I can't believe it. I finished this (25 hour!!!) audiobook and now I'm just simply done with Magnolia and BJ. This was a ride. ᪥
Pros
✻ Bridget's death was so sad and hard to read about. The immense grief Magnolia went through was otherworldly. I literally had to take breaks while listening to this because I felt so overwhelmed by my emotions.
✻ I finally get why Jessa Hastings says that she can't write Daisy Haites just yet. This whole world is just so emotionally intense and confronts you with feelings you didn't even know you had in you.
✻ JH has such a huge talent in writing. The way she can trigger you with a simple sentence just by using the right timing and setting is incredible. I'll never understand how she created this world and these characters that feel so complicated and yet understandable.
✻ I have never felt this deeply for fictional characters. I know we all love Acotar, TOG, Boys of Thommen etc. but this feels so real on another level. I'm convinced these people are sitting in London at this very moment and that I experienced every moment alongside them. Their pain and happiness feels so real to me.
✻ I missed Julian so much, I was so excited when he came back. I know for a fact that Magnolia and BJ are made for each other and they they always were the only solution but my heart breaks for him. He deserves the whole world and so much more and I truly wanted him so be happy with her but I get it. I really do.
✻ I was so happy to see Magnolia and BJ finally go to (much needed) therapy. It was so Magnolia-like that she was literally so exhausting lol but I still think they made a lot of progress.
✻ I think Magnolia sitting down with BJ and making up an alternative reality where he didn't cheat on her and instead came to her and talked to her about it was such a magnificent and healing moment and it was done beautifully.
✻ Harley's and Magnolia's relationship was so complicated. I think a lot of it got resolved in this book and we all know they're never going to be the loving father and daughter duo that she wishes for them to be but I think their talk at her wedding was a great first step.
✻ Their vows and BJ making up a speech that Bridget would've written was such a beautiful moment that for sure healed something in Magnolia. I can't describe how happy I am for them. Magnolia and BJ are literally going to be such good parents and they deserve the best.
Cons
✻ My main issue was that this was too long. On one side I want to read 1000 more pages about their story but I feel like this could've almost been split up into two books. It kind of dragged at some points.
✻ I know JH has said this in Q&As and she doesn't write books so that all the ends are tied and there's a HEA for everyone. Still I felt like Magnolia and Julian didn't get what they needed to be done with each other.
Conclusion
᪥ Even though I like Magnolia as a person and also as a pov more I'm still really excited for Daisy's future books to come. I can't wait for Julian's pov (it's going to hurt like a bitch) and I need to know what went down between Daisy and Christian. I think that her books are going to hurt a lot tho and not everyone will make it out unharmed.
I know that a lot of people are annoyed that there aren't going to be any more Magnolia books but I totally agree with JH when she says that that's how the story always was going to go and the way it has to go as well. She writes it exactly how it's supposed to be told and not how we want it to go.
I can't believe that this huge adventure is over (for now at least) and I'm really sad about it, even though they got their HEA. This series truly alternated my brain chemistry and my personality and there are so many more feelings I wish I could explain. A true masterpiece. ᪥
