squidoozie 's review for:
A Clash of Kings
by George R.R. Martin
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Flaws of characters a main focus:
Yes
this book felt long.
i don’t care about the plot as much as the characters; and this one has a lot of politics going on. it is “Clash of Kings” though so that’s on me.
4.25 stars instead of 4.0 just for cersei. this book made me understand how someone could possibly like the lannisters more than the starks.
overall not as riveting or memorable as the first book. but the worldbuilding is still spectacular, and all of the chapters’ POVs were distinct, and appreciated.davos’s chapter on the blackwater was an unexpected favorite. i did also really really like tyrion’s chapters. i think this book is really owned by him, and cersei.—for all that i also liked seeing jon more often. i’m excited to take a pause, and then return to keep following the story. jaime!!!
