“A Touch of Darkness” explored the female MC’s world, before mortal and immortal. While I appreciated the nuances present within the MC’s perspective, I felt that a part of the story was missing without the male MC’s side. This may have affected some of the reveals, but it felt like a vital part that was missing. I also think it would have brought some maturity to some situations, as the female MC, Persephone, displayed some typical youthful immaturity.

A winning piece of this read was the description and interactions between Persephone and Lexa, as well as Persephone’s interactions with the “villains” of the tale. The linking of traditional mythology with some more non-traditional themes was also well done. There was a quite a bit of smut for those who seeking such 😉

Would recommend for: romance with a mythical twist

Tropes:
Fated love
The mentor
The love triangle
Forced proximity
Incapable of love
