One Christmas in Reading by Sara Barnard

dark emotional hopeful sad medium-paced

3.0

It has been years since I read the Beautiful Broken Things series back in 2019. I almost couldn’t remember who the characters are but have certainly forgotten their backstories. I am quite impressed how Sara Barnard managed to depict toxic relationships, while still showcasing love from her sister and aunt.

As I was reading the short story, the memories of the sad stories came flooding back to me. Personally, I feel that Suzanne’s story was the most impactful in both books. I think it served its purpose of showcasing the main character’s relationship with her parents. Just okay I guess.
