Hop On Pop by Dr. Seuss

4.0

This is a great children's book with a delightful rhyme scheme. However, I have to deduct a star for the horrible characterization of the titular character, Pop. Surprisingly, Pop only appears on two of this book's 64 pages. He does nothing but get hopped on and chide his presumptive children for said hopping on him, as if the title of the book is Don't Hop on Pop! As a father, I would love nothing more than for my children to hop on me. However, in the end, Pop is subject to no comeuppance and never learns the joys of pop-hopping. Where is his character arc? SAY SAY what do you say? Ask me tomorrow, not today.
