This book threw me for a loop. I'd say after the first third of the book I was leaning toward a 3 to a 3.5 rating. Then the gaslighting started, and then a rape came out of nowhere, and the book completely lost me. I felt so bad for the main character, Patricia, as her husband and friends were gaslighting the hell out of her to the point she ODed on pills. Then things just got worse from there.

There are no healthy relationships in this story. Every husband cheats, and the women's lives revolve around making their husband's happy. A majority of this story took place in the 90s, but honestly it felt like the 40s or 50s with how they had to give up their careers just to get married. It was depressing how the women were treated.

The best parts of this book were Miss Mary, and how brutal some of the scenes were. It was a pleasant surprise, as I like seeing vampires as bloody, vicious creatures, but it just couldn't save the rest of the book, at least for me.
