The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows

4.0

* I received this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review*
The Mirror King picks up directly where The Orphan Queen left off, which is a good thing because that was the WORST cliffhanger I've ever seen. This book really works on closing up some of the gaping plot holes that were kind of an issue for me in the first installment. The other part of this book that was wonderful, was the fact that it really started to show both Tobiah and Wilhelmina leading. Wilhelmina especially starts to leave her petulant child attitude behind and really start to grow into her own. She begins to make decisions, and even better sometimes those decisions are poor decisions. This is probably something that really drew me in, she had to learn over the course of this book. She didn't make the best "queenly" decisions, but I felt that was so realistic because she was never really trained to be a queen. She was trained to be a warrior, and taught strategy on how to get her kingdom back but Patrick never wanted her to lead the people and so she wasn't taught that. There were a few twists and turns in this book, and a few I didn't even see coming! I feel like The Mirror King redeems this duology, and I would give it 4 out of stars.
