The Hollow Crown
by Jeff Wheeler
Some parts liked(intrigue), some parts really did not like (magic system and its narrative application). Most of my complaints about the magic system were actually introduced in Book 3, but the Hollow Crown has its own new issues. This book appears to have female empowerment as a central theme but the main character relies on rather than actually being a legitimate badass. I felt no reason to appreciate the main character. I hated the clairvoyance in book 3 and I hate it in this one. Predeterminism just rubs me the wrong way and it seems everyone in the book takes the visions as holy scripture. I should have stopped on book 3 which had a perfectly fine ending to the series.
