This book packs a lot of emotion and I like the fact it throws a light on the assisted dying debate in a way that does not feel prescriptive. While Will makes his own difficult choice, I'm glad that voice was also given to many others who in similar situations and who have felt able to continue living, however difficult that choice may be. It was also very good to see the sometimes impossible situations that family and carers are placed in while caring for someone with a death wish, having to strike a very fine balance between providing appropriate care and emotional support while also needing to ensure that the person they care for retains their own autonomy as much as possible and balancing their own emotions.
