The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward

3.0

Why 3 stars? Well this book had all the makings of being a great saga. It was building you up, adding sub-plots, building on the current theme & introducing new twists. All these threads weaving into something great and then it just darn snuffed out like a week candle flame - poof. The ending was so jarring and disconnected I had to check if there was a part two I was unaware of.

The ending was also, well, cheesy, nay corny. We were lead through some real life stuff & then it was almost like Ward had read Gone with the Wind too many times and decided her not-saga would have a sappy happy ending. Actually, a selfish happy ending - as all the other characters you care about are still stuck in their personal hell while the two characters you actually don’t care much for ride off into their Southern sunset.

Ye Gods - that was disappointing.
