Batman, Volume 9: Bloom by Scott Snyder

4.0

Scott Snyder gets Batman. He understands the character in a way that some directors and actors don't.
Nearly every volume of the New 52 leads to putting the book down and really thinking about the concept of a comic book hero.
I have really enjoyed the extension to Jim Gordon. Near the end of the book he has this great line that is too perfect- referring to Batman, "He fights our nightmares to teach us to fight the real terrors by light of day. He believes in us, Geri...He believes we will save ourselves."
That line picks up this fictional hero and makes it real. He puts into words why I read Batman comics and why I run to every movie. That crazy bat-mask means something.
Loved this volume and the way it pulls everything together.
