Donut Fall in Love by Jackie Lau

4.0

Awe! This was a super sweet, low angst, hunger inducing, giggle generating, and adorable listen.

If you’re like me and sometimes lament how unbelievable a couple is because they’ve spent four days together and are now madly in love - this book is for you. I adored all the time Ryan and Lindsay spent getting to know one another, becoming friends, then more. How Ryan is learning to open up about his feelings and Lindsay dealing with the public side of dating a movie star.

Seriously - have snacks nearby because Lindsay spends a good chunk of the book teaching Ryan how to bake. All those descriptions of donuts, cakes, frostings… all the flavors. (BRB, I need another donut!)

This was so much more than a romance. The family and friends aspect was wonderful as well. Lau balanced the good and the bad of interpersonal relationships without creating a villain. A lot of it was just learning how to communicate, live with grief, and other major life events.

I loved that the only blip in their relationship was resolved quickly and Ryan & Lindsay’s HEA. A sweet little epilogue was the sprinkles on top.

Narration:
Carolyn Kang and Kenzo Lee’s narration was absolutely delightful. They both have the perfect voice for 20-somethings and the personalities Lau wrote. It was so easy to just put in my earbuds and get completely lost in the story.
