Amazing. I was initially very thrown off and disturbed by all the grisly--and sometimes seemingly unnecessary--violence and death, then remembered that this is a story about the human race fighting against literal aliens...

Japanese writers seem to have a fascination w/ the concept of time, and All You Need Is Kill is definitely a mindfvck in this department if there ever is one. It was also great to see how the main character Keiji grappled w/ his extreme situation, decided to use it to his advantage, and grew astonishingly yet realistically stronger in the process; his foil Rita and their relationship were interesting as well. And while the story inevitably focused on fighting, it still had a lot of heart.

Needless to say, the art by Takeshi Obata was, as always, fcking fantastic. A rare manga that had both excellent art and story.
