This has been my 6th Riley Sager book (I still have to read Survive the Night) and it’s been nice seeing him develop as an author. I think this has been one of my favorites so far the house falling into the ocean is such an atmospheric setting, and the mystery of what happened both in the past and in the present was so fun to try to solve right alongside the main character. I find the Lizzie Borden case so intriguing, and I liked the way this story took that historical mystery and just added to it and made it it’s own thing. I know not everyone is a fan of having a ton of twists and turns at the end, but I certainly am and while I had the first twist figured out, I did NOT see the other ones coming and it was so satisfying to read! Be warned if you are going to read this there are a ton of trigger warnings: loss of a parent, murder, talk of cancer, grief, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, drug abuse, pregnancy, medical content, and of course, lots of murder and blood.
