Dragonflight

DID NOT FINISH: 43%
I really wanted to like this one, especially since it has had such an effect on modern fantasy. But I just couldn’t.
The characters were unlikeable and surface level. The plot seemed straightforward enough, but was muddled by odd wordplay and unexplained character decisions. I was often confused.
And the protagonists definitely didn’t feel like heroes. Making decisions that felt more like the actions of villains and corrupt organizations than a noble group of protectors.
And that would’ve been fine, IF the intent had been a morally grey story. But the author clearly intended for them to be seen as heroic. They definitely were not.

Graphic: Misogyny
Moderate: Rape
