The Host
by Stephenie Meyer
Well, this is not the story I remember reading when I was a teenager. Not at all.
There are a lot of elements that I remember and a lot of elements that I don’t, and I think I’m more surprised by the elements that I don’t remember. If that makes any sort of sense.
The story also moves a lot slower that I was remembering, there are a lot of things that happen in this story but somehow it doesn’t make the pace of the book speed up any.
Also, the whole love triangle thing gets a bit weird and convoluted towards the end, and the relationship between Wanda and Ian seems very rushed with no real build up to it. Also, there were moments where I wanted to reach into the pages and slap Melanie. I definitely do not remember her being as whiny as she was.
Definitely not a book I will be revisiting again, but one that I’m oddly glad I have read again.
