Bride of the Winter King
by Holly Rose
2.25 stars ???
I have got no idea how to rate this book because on the one hand, I enjoyed it and read it in one sitting but on the other, it was borderline terrible.
- the plot had SO much potential but we learn nothing during this story. it almost felt like a novella and would have benefited from being 100 or so pages more. we don’t know anything about this curse, or why our female hero’s role in it and I felt sorry for the winter king to be honest.
- adara (is that even her name???) was unlikeable. she learns nothing in the book and she is boring. she doesn’t translate off the page at all. I thought her stubbornness came across as childish.
- the book is very repetitive and our heroine repeats the same phrase constantly about killing the winter king.
- I did think the writing was easy to read and I felt like it ended it enough of a cliffhanger to make me want to read more but this sadly reads like a novella from a fifteen year old novice.
