The book has a pretty unique premise, but I wasn’t a big fan of the writing of the book itself. I have never enjoyed first person books, and this one is a prime example of why. It focuses more on the past and the narrator’s thoughts than the current ongoings in the book, showing favoritism to world and character building than the current ongoing plot.

It was by no means a bad book, and while it does tackle some heavier topics, none of the descriptions are that graphic like in other books I’ve read. If you’re looking for a more introspective read on mental health, how it’s dealt with, and understanding and acknowledging the perspectives of other people, then this would be a good book for you, it just didn’t tick my boxes when it comes to horror/apocalypse books.
