I did not know what to expect when I went into this.  I've been reading a lot of gothic fiction this spooky season so I was a little worried I was burned out already on the whole "mysterious house" thing.  The plot and the nature of the house really surprised me!  I thought it was really unique and kept me interested.  The writing really kicked it up to a 5 star book to me.  There were several passages that I read over and over again because the beauty/poignancy of the phrasing was so pleasurable to me.
