Twin Crowns

Actual rating - ♾️💫
Y’all how did no one tell me that this book is literally for the Princess and Pauper fans?! 😔💖 I don’t hear many people talk about this book. If it hadn’t been for a few people whose reviews I trust, I would not have picked up this book any time soon. As someone who grew up watching the Barbie movies and started reading thanks to Once Upon a Broken Heart series, Twin Crowns reminds me of both series which easily bumped my score (I am biased I know).

Since we are talking about vibes, we are going to start this review by talking about the vibes. The book resembles the Princess and the Pauper traits as follows: twin sisters who were separated at birth, one sister is royal and the other sister is raised as a witch who is hated in the country, the villain’s goals resemble Preminger, and two love interests exist for the sisters. I feel this book is meant for all the readers whose inner child still dreams of being a princess living in the castle.
Besides the vibes, I love everything about this book. From the whimsical name picks each character and location gets all the way to the backstory of the witches and the origins of the witch queen. There are only a few books where I genuinely can remember vividly about the places and the events that take place, and this book is added to that list. Let me not forget that this book’s humor is top-tier! Picking this book up I didn’t expect comedy. So imagine my surprise when I was laughing so hard at a couple of scenes. There are only a few books that are marketed as comedy and made me laugh so hard, and this book is once again added to that list.
What really bumps my score to a ♾️ rating would be the romance. Oh. My. God. The way we get so many forced proximity scenes and the way these love interests look at our heroines (Rose and Wren) made my heart melt. The pacing of the romance and the development of the ship just felt right for a first book in a trilogy. The one love interest that made me squeal the hardest with his scenes was Shen Lo. A man who has good humor but can be smooth with his words? GIVE HIM TO ME!!! But don’t think I didn’t loved the other love interest, Tor, as much as Shen. His romance scenes lean more to slow burn so by the near of the book, I was screaming at my pillow and even talking to my plushies about how handsome he is (yes sometimes I talk to my plushies shush).

Twin Crowns is a book that should be placed high on your TBR, especially if you love reading books that give off fairytale themes. It has certainly been put high on my favorite list of books I read in 2025 this year. I won’t be surprised when I finish this series that it will be my all-time favorite overall.
Others:
♡ I love Rose and Wren so much! Rose reminds me a lot of my favorite heroines who are soft and have mercy, yet can be strong in their own way. Wren grew to me with her humor but her sacrifice and hope for a better world. These sisters go hand in hand and you will find something you can love between the two.
♡ If you’re curious if reading a book with two authors will make it feel like you are reading two different books, I have good news for you. Reading this book made it feel like I was reading one author because both of their writing style goes hand in hand and felt smooth to read on the page.
♡ The way I immediately put Shen Lo high on the list as Aaron Warner and Jack's Prince of Hearts tier; that is how much I love this man.
♡ King Alarik though 👀 That’s all I’m going to say 🤭
♡ Prince Ansel has my heart 😭 Must protect baby precious
♡ Love Celeste so much and the same with the found family of Celeste, Cam, and Rose 😭 I also love the witch family like Thea and Banba.
♡ As you can see, I am in love with this book because I can’t stop adding more things I love to this list!!!
