Weak 4 for me but it could be a solid 4 or 5 for someone who didn't already know most of what is in this book. Applaud the attempt at pulling in so much history into how we are where we are from a structural/civil engineering standpoint. It was annoying that the author was so interested in telling her small contributions to structural engineering and kept going back over it in several chapters.

The pluses were how she did the research to put together how we gained our knowledge, mistake by mistake until we arrived at where we are.
As she said, a couple of hundred years from now we will look back at everything we are doing today as wrong!

I admire anyone that would attempt to make a book as readable as this on such complicated topics.
