Our Last Days in Barcelona by Chanel Cleeton

3.0

Again, I generally enjoy Ms. Cleeton’s books but my criticisms remain the same. Because of her 3 timelines, her characters never fully develop and therefore neither does the romance. And given that this is in many ways a romance novel, that is the one thing that should be developed. My favorite timeline, of the 3 is Alissia. In her younger years she is such a likable character, and it really makes you wonder what changes her into the cold person she is in Isabelle’s timeline. If the answer to that was the events of Guernica then that point was missed on me. I would have loved more emphasis and depth on such a traumatic event. Or if the answer was Nestor, then I would’ve expected her to grieve much longer than she did. While I liked it, I just see so many opportunities for it to have been much better.
