Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

4.0

I read this book after watching the movie with a friend and liking the characters. I wasn't 100% sure if am going to like it but was pleasantly surprised. The book doesn't focus on one character (even though technically Rachel is the protagonist) but instead features several characters and tries to make them share the spotlight.

The characters are fun to read (albeit a bit cliche). Everything and everyone is outrageous but you accept this going in.

I did find myself getting lost a couple times in the middle of all the name-dropping but that didn't bother me too much.

I do think the book ended rather abruptly. I know that there are two other books but it just ... suddenly drops everything it was covering and ends. The final scene is wholesome but it feels a bit rushed.

Overall, though, was a fun read.
