I learnt so much from this beautiful book. I had no idea about the horrors of 19th century footbinding in China. And the friendship in this book is absolutely gorgeous. I loved the description of the two girls as a pair of mandarin ducks. I also really enjoyed learning about nu shu, the secret Chinese writing practised by women for almost a thousand years!! Highly recommend it.
