Gatefather
by Orson Scott Card
Exceedingly preachy. It had a different feel from the first two books - even from the shorts in the same world... and it just kept going round and round - so that it was like he was trying to explain a religion in order to get you to "buy in" to it.. "become" it.
I am peripherally aware that Card is Mormon... and I am even more ignorantly aware that Mormons in some form believe that their god/heaven - religious doctrine comes from outerspace... different planets... and after a very short bout of preaching (at least twice) I just couldnt pull myself away from the resentment that I was being "educated".. about a religion I have no interest in learning about.
but I sat through it - and after a long long wait - its done.
I might go back and re-read book Gate Thief again.. just to feel better about the world again.
