I adore the romance in this book- it’s carrying the story really. Strong-willed, openly- opinionated F MC who is ridiculously practical but also hilarious and not made of stone?
Gruff werewolf lord love interest who has a healthy amount of bickering with the MC yet can’t help but laugh at her jokes even when they’re “enemies”? Finally an immortal who doesn’t want to date an 18 year-old and who can both be dominating when it’s fun but also respectful? Sold. Quite a few spicy scenes keep it fun.
The novel is also hilarious at times with some witty societal criticisms, as a comedy-of-manners. Some interesting lore/world-building with the soulless concept and vampire hives, for example. Fun steampunk technology. Love the side characters as well, some are lgbt, especially Alexia’s butler.
Only thing preventing a higher rating for me is the plot, though to be fair I am not a big fan of mystery in the first place. A lot of it just seems like plot convenience, especially to just further the romance.
