A magical detective hunts down a serial killer to reclaim her soul, so that she has a future with her lover. Loved the noir, 1930s urban fantasy setting, it was wonderfully depicted and such a jam. Helen and Edith are both great characters at the core - especially Helen, who is smart, edgy and protective. Edith is sweet, but feels less developed as a character compared to Helen.

I really liked their established romance, it's low angst/conflict with plenty of sweet flirting. Their devotion to each other, particularly on Helen's part, is pretty great to read about. As it's a pretty short novella, some aspects, including the magical mystery, aren't very well fleshed out. It was still a solid read - but I wished it was longer!
