tiaschmidt 's review for:
Uncle Tom's Cabin
by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Not the most fantastic writing ever, but the meaning and impact this had on American society as a whole is absolutely astonishing. This one book is supposedly one of the reasons for the beginning of the Civil War. I highly recommend EVERYONE who either lives in the United States or is interested in American history/slavery to pick this up and really dive into it. I had to read it for an American Novel class I'm taking this term at uni and I'm so glad I did. This is not the best book ever, but for it's time it was essential and critical. A must read!
