The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

4.0

I really liked this. I haven't read Plath's poetry yet, but the fact that she's a poet really shines through. I thought the dry first-person narration was brilliant and the pacing was perfect. I was engaged for every moment. I rated this three stars at first, but the more I chew on it, the more I love it, so I'm bumping up to 4 stars. It's a bit dark and messy, but that's the point. That's the character. It's so well done from a literary standpoint that I have only praise. I'm glad I've finally read it.
