I was going to give this 4 stars, because I didn’t love it and gel with it as much as I did the first book. But the final few pages of this book broke me in the best way so it absolutely deserved 5. I can genuinely say I absolutely did not expect the ending of this book, and it caused a really genuine devastation. It was interesting to explore how Queenie had experienced the years we have already seen from Harold’s perspective, and find out her own thoughts and feelings from the same events, and different ones that he wasn’t privy to. I really like Joyce’s writing, she makes it very easy to fall into a story. I look forward to the final instalment of this trilogy of characters.
