Born with Teeth by Kate Mulgrew

5.0

Janeway was such an important presence in my childhood. I can't help but love Kate Mulgrew for giving life to her and for laying out her own life in this book. Mulgrew's memoir has power and voice. It doesn't give a timeline or wrap up each of her relationships neatly. After intensely emotional scenes, she often fades to black and cuts to another relationship. It's refreshing to read a memoir that is both intensely personal and well-sculpted. Her mother was right when she said about one of Kate's romantic trysts: "If it were a book, I wouldn't be able to put it down."
