Star Wars: Darth Vader, Volume 2: Shadows and Secrets by

Note for reader - I have not read the trade paperback but have read the individual comics instead.

To be honest this arc doesn't really work for me as well as the first arc. The story is a bit 'keystone cops' as Vader is staying one step ahead of the Emperor who has assigned a brilliant investigator to Vader to find out who stole lots of credits intended for the Empire. Of course Vader knows entirely who is responsible for the theft...

The story is fun and I find myself rooting for Vader and Aphra but it's only okay and doesn't seem to fit the character somewhat.

What is powerful is just how easy the Emperor feels he can discard his 'star' pupil, it really does show how twisted and malevolent the relationship is. That said, Palpatine's 'Plan B' just seems exceptionally lame and I just wasn't feeling it.
