Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption
by Laura Hillenbrand
This is a non-fiction account of an Olympic runner turned bomber during WWII who was captured and held in a Japanese prison camp. As a true account, it was obviously difficult to read at times; I had to keep reminding myself that this all really happened. I love a story of resilience in the face of challenges beyond what it seems the human psyche and physical body can manage. Makes for a great book club discussion.
