The Chain
by Adrian McKinty
This started at 100 and stayed at 100 throughout. I can't remember the last time I felt so anxious reading a book - which is what a want from my mystery\trillers.
The Chain follows Rachel who gets a call from someone saying they've kidnapped her daughter. Not only does she have to pay a ransom to get her back, she also has to kidnap someone else's child. She is now part of the chain.
I really enjoyed my time with this. Is it the best book ever? Maybe not - but it has a solid, innovative concept and fast pacing. Hold on to your neck girls coz this flies through at a break neck speed!
The ending did fall a little flat. I think because the pacing was so fast throughout it had to slow down at some point and this made the ending a little meh for me.
How far would you go to save the ones you love? Interesting questions.
I'd highly recommend this if you're looking for an easy, incredibly fast paced book with kidnap and murder and peanut allergies and casual dark web searching.
