I was honestly going to give this book a much higher rate but then the second part happened.
I found the first one definitely more enjoyable and more focused on the so known 'hurt-comfort'.
I'm not a big fun of time skip and even if it was portraited well enough, it was missing something.
The second part felt more rushed, almost flat if we're talking about their relationship.
The characters around them seems too thin, they're there but they could have easily not been.
I honestly didn't enjoy the way Danny found out abou them and how they even called him selfish. Like, it's obvious that the man needs to digest the whole thing. We're talking about his best friend and his d a d.
(Plus, he always have to find things out by accidents.)
It was all resolved after, what, one punch? We don't even see the conversation between him and Archer and idk, I kinda wanted to see it. I understand that Archer and Danny's dad were hurting and their feelings are their own, and so is thei  relationship, but i don't like how they treated Danny and how his feelings seemes absolutely invalid just because he wasn't hurting like them. Like, babes, he lost his mother too. He has a better grip on his life but he still k n o w s how it feels to lose someone.
So, yes, I feel like the second half of the book kinda ruined the experience of the first half.
Plus, i can't even remember what actually happened to Archer's parents or if it was mentioned but that could be easily my fault.
It was a good read, tho. Took just a few hours but i don't understand how you could connect so deeply to the characters to even cry for them. Maybe, again, it's my fault. I was too hyped or simply had high expectations on the angst.
Still, i feel like it was more than okay and it was a good enough read.
