The fight scene was almost good enough to bump this to four stars. There were some issues with it but on the whole, I found it better than the last book.
I'll start with nitpicking. I don't know why the book spent three whole pages on Mercy trying on jeans at Walmart. I can relate as a fellow woman, but there was no reason to go into detail when the only important bit was Mercy being attacked. There were also just some weird moments. Like Adam having to assure Mercy he's not mad she got attacked. Like, first, why would she worry about that? Why would he be mad? Why is him victim-blaming even a possibility? I couldn't tell if this was the drugs confusing her or if this was a legitimate moment.
Also, I'm not Native American. I don't know if the author is or even knows any Native American people. The storyline is interesting, but I can't comment on its authenticity. I honestly hope it does the stories and culture properly.
The fight scene was by far the best thing in the series. The end part with Barry and his sister was emotional. I also liked the Stefan cameo. I really can't tell where the series goes from here, but I'll find out!
