Curvy Girls Can't Date Quarterbacks by Kelsie Stelting
4.0
“What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever taken a photo of?” His hazel eyes caught mine, dark in the fire, and all the energy there transferred to me as he said, “You.”
This book has been on my tbr for so long and I finally got tired of waiting around and trying to get to it that I immediately bumped it up the list, and I am so glad that I did. Fair warning, this book is unbelievably predictable, so if that's not your thing then you probably won't enjoy this is as much as I did. I eat predictability for breakfasttttttt. It's my favorite cliche and I will not apologize lol.
The story starts off with Rory getting diagnosed with PCOS and finally getting an answer to why she's been unable to lose weight, despite her mother's wishes. She sits in health class and the school bully - sorry, cheerleader - begins picking on her and saying that no one will ever love her because they'll never be able to look past her weight. (If anyone wants to help me figure out where she lives so we can jump her, I'm all in.) So the two of them make a bet - if Rory can't make the school's star quarterback, Beckett Langley, fall in love with her by homecoming, then she has to forfeit the dance and stay home. Thus begins our story.
4 other curvy girls - later named the curvy girl club - come together to help Rory win this bet because they are tired of being pushed around by the school's elite as well and want to see the bully eat her words. Rory gains a friendship with these girls, but is afraid that once the bet is over then her life will go back to what it once was - friendless.
“I’ve never looked at something and felt it before, you know? But this...it feels like happiness.”
I absolutely ate this whole book up, from start to finish, but the ending was lacking a bit for me. It felt a bit thrown together at the end and there wasn't as much groveling as I'd hoped there would be - especially after a few very hurtful words were exchanged (Beckett, you know what you did.)
Aside from that, it was a great read and I definitely recommend it!
