The Mountain in the Sea
by Ray Nayler
It's contemplative for sure, but I have no idea how it got a "thriller" tag on Goodreads. It isn't thrilling. It's slow paced, thoughtful, scientific, reflective. It leaves you with more to think about than the story itself, which is (for the most part) dry and uneventful. I enjoyed the parts that included octopus interactions. The ending was lackluster imo. Overall, it was fine.
