I've read Misery twice now, the first time as a kid, and it held up. The story at times feels very dated - there's a story within the story that has some extremely dated (more dated than I'd expect) portrayals of race. But the tension between Paul and Annie is the heart of the story and it's incredibly well done, as well as Paul's grappling with the new life and Annie's whims that are forced upon him. It's gorier than you may expect at times, but at it's heart is just an incredibly suspenseful story and I enjoyed the theme of struggling to find a new option when every possible one has been systematically shut down.
