The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

adventurous funny tense medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Loveable characters? Yes

4.5

These are my initial thoughts after finishing - I may add more once I've had a bit of time to think.

Going into this book, I knew it wouldn't be the same as the PJO series and so was a little concerned that I was going to be as invested in the characters or the story but boy was I wrong - I love Jason, Piper and Leo.

The switching perspectives is obviously different from PJO but it really helped me get an understanding of the inner workings of each character which I enjoyed.

The slow drip feeding of the Roman side of things made it more interesting and I'm excited to see the combination of the seven heroes from across both camps especially with Percy leading the Roman demigods.

Overall I think a great start to a follow up series which could've fallen flat on its face but didn't in Rick's hands. Now onto Son of Neptune!
