Allie's freshman year at Tulane is off to an interesting start. Since Levi tricked her into becoming the future princess of the Pterons, she's majorly pissed at him, and doing her best not to fall prey to his charms again. The problem is, his parents and the rest of the supernatural world doesn't know they're apart, so Allie has so pretend everything's OK in the public eye.

In addition, Levi's making sure Allie's got a Pteron guard everywhere she goes. There is the threat of the royal throne being usurped, and the enemy is not above targeting Allie to get to Levi. Allie's not one to shy away though, so whatever danger is ahead, she wants to be prepared to face it as well.

Wow, wow, wow, was this book better than its' predecessor! There was so much heat between Levi and Allie, and I felt I learned more about the Pteron world, which I appreciated.

So, Allie's very mad that she became Levi's mate without her knowledge, and who can blame her? I'm just the reader, and I'm pretty mad myself at what he did to her. She's freezing him out, but she has no choice but to let him stay close to her. I liked Allie's character much more in this book. She stood up for herself, she was courageous in front of Levi's parents, and she didn't let anyone push her around. Just one thing though: I can't decide if Allie's decision that sleeping on the couch with Levi is OK while the bed is out of the question, is funny or annoying. Come on girl, you aren't fooling anyone, not even yourself.

Allie's roommate and sidekick is fellow Pteron, Hailey. I really loved that even though Levi has basically inserted himself into Allie's world, she doesn't cave to him and leave her friends behind. She still goes out with them, has girl time, and wants to make sure her girls are safe, always.

Now, let's talk about the chemistry between Allie and sexy shifter boy Levi. He's persistent and steadfast, put in no way pushes Allie to do things she doesn't want to do. He's willing to allow Allie to come around on her own time, and he loves her completely in the meantime. He also knows she wants him just as much as he wants her, and believe me, he uses it to his advantage. With a hot, powerful, passionate man like Levi after you, any girl is bound to give in after a while.

This book didn't have a ton of action, but it put shifter politics into play and let the reader more into the shifter world. We also learned a lot more about several characters. I believe it set everything up nicely for the next installment. Although I'm totally not in love with the major OMG moment and cliffhanger at the end! (OK...yes I am.)
