A Proper Charade by Esther Hatch
4.0
this was a really cute and fluffy read. it is the exemplary huffleclaw of books. think newt scamander’s energetic enthusiasm for his fantastic beasts mixed with luna lovegood’s eccentric and unique personality (the one that sparked all our curiosity towards the nargles and their effect on the human brain). tHAT is what this book was.
anthony and patience were adorable. their respective personalities—anthony’s stoic, slightly rigid and broody with patience’s whimsical, carefree and vivacious—complemented one another so well and made for a good character growth arc.
if i were to have read this book back during my high school years, i would have surely given it a 5 (6-star even), but alas i’m not in high school anymore and accept that there were certain things in this story than could have been handled slightly better ().
nonetheless, i see no other fault with it and think it’ll make for a delightful summer read that could be enjoyed while you sit in your hammock in the shade or listened to while you sunbathe on your favourite unicorn floatie.
