I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy
3.0
MAJOR trigger warning for emotional/verbal/sexual abuse, bulimia, anorexia, binge eating disorder, implied grooming, body shaming, fat shaming, OCD, neglect, hoarding, parent with terminal illness, death of a parent.
I have a ton of thoughts. I grew up watching Jennette on iCarly, and I had really fond memories of watching her while I was growing up. I truly hope Jennette is continuing to heal from all of her experiences in this book. I had some issues with the memoir (specifically the no warning on the SUPER (!!!!!!!) triggering content, not a lot of substantive editing, and the book feeling overall disjointed). I'm super glad Jennette is able to share her story and experiences and I hope that this book opens the flood gate for more former child stars to come forward.
