Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James
3.0

I usually give a three star review to a book that I liked, I liked the content and the plot, but it somehow didn't excite me or live up to my expectations. That is the case with this book. I think the only way this would have impressed me more was if Jane Austen had written it herself.

The story seemed to drag for me. I couldn't get into it. It bored me. Though the assumed accuracy was good; I could assume by Wickham's behavior in Pride & Prejudice that all of those things could have happened to him.

I enjoyed the references to both Emma and Persuasion in a few chapters. Those were actually my favorite parts in the book.

For the most part, the characters that were known from P&P seemed to be acting just as they did in that novel.

I found the Epilogue disappointing. Like, wouldn't Darcy and Elizabeth have hashed out all that stuff about Wickham and Georgiana, and also their pasts together years before when they first got married? I didn't understand that and it was unnecessary.

Anyway, there were parts of this book that I enjoyed but for the most part I didn't really like it. But I'm glad I read it so I can now see the TV movie and see if it makes it any better.
