Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari

4.5 stars
This was a dense but insightful read, focused initially on the biological & anthropological development of human beings, but about a third of the way through it transitions to the societal and macro-development of the human race. I surprisingly learned a lot about a number of surprising topics: banking, trade, colonialism. Loses a few points for a few minor moments of irreverent/apathetic tone that I never really appreciate in an academic text. Ultimately, offers a grand review of the past and sobering warning for the future of Human Beings.
