It’s a decently engaging read. The premise is fun and the book wastes little time getting into it. There were multiple times where I had been spooked and it was especially fun reading this in the dark.

The Scandinavian scenes and the affluent invitees were well made and drew me in, I could actually remember the names of the not-too-small cast.

I found Laura (Lo) a tad bit rude in the part where she’s boarding the ship.

She also keeps gulping and acting awkward. Surely a journalist would have their shit a little more together? I get that this behaviour would help set the uncomfy feeling in the book. Her awkwardness though, is completely through the roof. Even the parts where her journalism thinking were on was kinda lame. I wish they let her shine more in that department which would elevate this horror story.

And Judah, he could’ve been removed from this book completely and replaced with a lamp that could email and I would’ve been fine.

The ending was eh, I liked that Carrie managed to get a little reference in, but the whole “let’s move to new york!!!!” thing was ok.

I just didn’t really like Lo’s character most of the time. Her interactions with Carrie could make you FEEL.

If i had no reception and had 10% of the creepy things happening to me I would’ve gotten the FUCK out of there. That made the realism and sympathy for Lo go down a bit.

The twist was smart and I didn’t see it coming. The bodies being found as the book progressed was a really great feature.

When the “STOP DIGGING” thing happened, CHILLS.
